On 17 May, the MUB students, dressed in traditional national costumes, began their march commemorating the Norwegian Constitution Day. They set off at 2 p.m. from in front of the Podlasie Opera House and Philharmonic Hall and marched to the Branicki Palace, the seat of our University. The whole ceremony took place in a joyful atmosphere to the accompaniment of trumpets and patriotic songs.

The celebration of the Norwegian holiday at the MUB has a long-standing tradition. Students from the English Division, who come from Scandinavia, are a significant group among the foreign students - there are 105 out of 447 foreigners. For them, celebrating this day is an expression of patriotism and upholding national traditions.

Norwegian Constitution Day, celebrated annually on 17 May, is a bank holiday in Norway. It is also known as Nasjonaldagen (State Holiday) or Grunnlovsdagen (Constitution Day).

The Norwegian Constitution, adopted on 17 May 1814, proclaimed Norway's independence as a constitutional monarchy. This was a measure to preserve state sovereignty in the face of the threat of Norway joining Sweden after the defeat of the Kingdom of Denmark and Norway in the Napoleonic Wars.
