    Course assumptions and objectives

    1. Diagnosis and treatment of soft tissue and bone injuries of the maxillofacial region (mainly from the aspect of first aid).
    2. Interdisciplinary co-operation in the aspect of diagnosis and treatment of craniofacial injuries.
    3. Cancer vigilance with focus on prevention, recognition of potentially malignant disorders and management of suspicion of neoplastic disease. Fundamentals of surgical treatment of tumours of the head and neck region. Combined interdisciplinary oncological treatment - principles and clinical cases.
    4. Diagnosis of craniofacial malformations - suspected malformations.
    5. Diagnosis and treatment of dentoalveolar inflammatory conditions of the head and neck, salivary gland diseases and facial pain syndromes.

    Benign and malignant neoplasms of the craniofacial region, including oral cavity: epidemiology, aetiology, staging (TNM). Principles of diagnosis, prophylaxis, surgical and combined treatment. Interdisciplinary cooperation. Preparation of the oral cavity for radiation therapy. Tumour-like lesions.

    Congenital (cleft) and acquired (skeletal) defects of the craniofacial part: morphological, functional and aesthetic disorders. Surgical management in combined, multistage treatment of facial malformations.

    Criteria for the assessment of the achieved learning outcomes and the form and conditions of obtaining credit for the course:

    Credit will be obtained at the basis of:
    1. Final test taken during the last class (60% of correct answers is needed),
    2. Attendance at classes and seminars (student's absence may be excused on the basis of medical exemption or dean's permission only. Missed class has to be made-up within one week).
