    Classes 1:

     

     

    Cardiology

     

    The applicable material in the field of basic pharmacology:

     

    Treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

    Therapeutic strategies of basic states in cardiology:

    - hypertension

    - heart failure

    - arrhythmias

    - coronary heart disease

    Emergencies in cardiology:

    Myocardial infarction - pre-hospital, hospital and post-hospital procedures.

    Complications of myocardial infarction or other life-threatening conditions requiring decisive intervention:

    - pulmonary oedema

    - cardiogenic shock

    - symptomatic arrhythmias

    - sudden cardiac arrest

     

    The applicable material for practical part in the field of cardiovascular diseases:

     

    1. Ability to choose pharmacotherapy for selected clinical cases.
    2. Evaluation of drug interactions and side effects.
    3. Calculation of doses, monitored therapy

     

    The applicable material for practical part in the field of cardiovascular diseases:

     

    1. Therapeutic process in selected diseases: hypertension, ischaemic heart disease, acute coronary syndromes with ST segment elevation and non- ST segment elevation, arrhythmias, heart failure (acute, chronic).
      1. Ability to carry out a subjective and objective examination of adult patient with special regard to pharmacotherapy.
      2. The ability to justify the treatment and dosage.
      3. Drug interactions between the drugs used and possible side effects.

    Insulin therapy:

     

    The applicable material in the field of basic pharmacology:

     

    1. Types of insulins for diabetes treatment
    2. Principles of insulin therapy:
    1. intensive insulin therapy
    2. conventional insulin therapy
    3. simple - combined treatment (insulin + oral drugs)
    4. intravenous insulin therapy

     

    The applicable material for theoretical part in the field of diabetes:

    1. Insulin therapy of selected disease entities:
    1. type 1 diabetes
    2. type 2 diabetes
    3. type 3 diabetes
    4. gestational diabetes (GDM)

    in the field of calculating doses, side effects, drug interactions, algorithms therapy, complementary therapy and individualization of therapy

    1. Insulin therapy and physical activity, carbohydrate exchanges.
    2. Complications of treatment with exogenous insulin (hypoglycemia and glucose fluctuations, adipose tissue hypertrophy, iatrogenic insulin resistance)
    3. Primary and secondary prevention of diabetes complications

    1. Pharmacotherapy of mood disorders and anxiety disorders. Principles of treatment of sleep disorders, convulsions.

    2. Pharmacotherapy of the elderly. Therapy of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease.

    3. General characteristics of drugs used in anaesthesiology. Hypnotics, muscle relaxants, centrally acting analgesics, intravenous general anaesthetics.

    4. Painkillers:

    - New and old-generation NSAIDs (COX 2 inhibitors), potent drugs, their use in the treatment of acute and chronic pain, pain prophylaxis.

    - treatment of cancer pain, WHO analgesic ladder, pharmacotherapy in terminal conditions, palliative care.

     

    5. Drugs used in the treatment of diseases of the osteo-articular system and soft tissues.

    6. Pharmacotherapy of life-threatening conditions.
