The Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Medical Analytics was set up as part of the Medical Academy of Bialystok on 1 July 1977 pursuant to a decision of the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare. In 2001 the name was changed to the Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine.
The following courses are offered to students at the Faculty:
- Medical Analytics (since 1977),
- Pharmacy (since 1987),
- Cosmetology (since 2009).
All the courses have been accredited by the Polish Accreditation Committee.
Degrees at the Faculty degrees were obtained by:
- 1918 laboratory diagnosticians,
- 2152 pharmacists,
- 1419 cosmetologists.
In the academic year 2024/2025, a total of 1235 students are enrolled at the Faculty. Currently, the Faculty consists of 29 organizational units, divided into 27 departments and 1 independent laboratory.
The Faculty offers PhD courses and postgraduate programs for training of pharmacists and laboratory diagnosticians.
The Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine is authorized to offer the following University degrees:
- PhD degree in medical biology (since 2000),
- PhD degree in pharmaceutical sciences (since 2004),
- habilitated doctor degree in medical biology (since 2005),
- habilitated doctor degree in pharmaceutical sciences (since 2012).
The Faculty staff carry out their research work in cooperation with many research centers in Poland and abroad. Their primary scientific interests include new synthetic and natural drugs, evaluation of drug action mechanism, drug toxicity, pharmacodynamic and pharmacokinetic profile, drug form technology, medical diagnostics with special emphasis on the assessment of the pathomechanism of neoplastic, inflammatory and metabolic diseases as well as determination of their markers.
