    The Medical University of Białystok's faculty consists of 96 Professors (MD, PhD), 95 Doctors (PhD) and 750 academic teachers, a ratio that is one of the highest in Poland and places our University among the leading universities in the country. Nearly 90% of currently employed professors and associate professors are graduates of the University. More than 30 university graduates, professors and associate professors hold full managerial positions in other medical schools, institutes and health centers in the country and abroad.

    It is important to highlight one of the University’s most modern pieces of infrastructure for conducting scientific research, the Center for Experimental Medicine. It is one of the most advanced centers for breeding and research on experimental animals in Europe and the Euroregional Laboratory of Pharmaceutical Analysis, covering within its range of operation Lithuania, Poland and Kaliningrad Oblast.

    Many years of consistent implementation of strategy for scientific development has placed two faculties (the Faculty of Medicine with the Division of Dentistry and English Division, and also the Faculty of Pharmacy with the Division of Laboratory Medicine) in the first category of the ranking system of the Polish Ministry of Science and Higher Education.

    The range of academic courses offered by the University is constantly adapted to the needs of the changing job market. At present, there are 4439 students at 14 offered faculties/departments of the University.

    There are two international journals at the University published in English (Advances in Medical Sciences and Folia Histochemica et Cytobiologica), both of which are present on the ISI Master Journal List.

    The Medical University of Bialystok currently holds 20 signed scientific bilateral agreements regarding cooperation and scientific exchange with foreign universities. The University is positioning itself towards internationally expanding scientific and didactic cooperation with the countries of the European Union, and also with the USA and Japan. At the same time, the University implements the idea of European Expert Seminars directed at the entire academic community with special attention devoted to the role of the visiting professors, who are prominent specialists with remarkable scientific achievements.

    The University has been successful in obtaining funds from the European Union for building new infrastructure. New buildings for the Faculty of Health Sciences and a modern Pharmacy Center are currently under construction while the premises and equipment of the didactic infrastructure are modernized within the framework supporting innovative activities.
