Rules &Regulations for Students of the English Division
- The Rules &Regulations of the Anaesthesia and Intensive Therapy course are consistent with the Terms & Conditions of Studies at the Medical University of Bialystok
- The course is delivered in accordance with the course schedule as approved by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine.
- The Anaesthesia and Intensive Therapy course is held at the Clinical Ward of Anaesthesia and Intensive Therapy University Hospital and in the Department of Anaesthesiology Classroom (Unit M, 6th floor, Room no. 3). Lectures are delivered in Unit M, 6th floor.
- Students are required to replace their outdoor footwear with special indoor footwear and to wear a white medical lab coat during the meetings (lab coats will not be provided by the School). Bags, overcoats, outdoor jackets etc. should be left in the cloakroom. White coat is not mandatory.
- Mobile phones and audio devices must be switched off during class. Students are responsible for their personal belongings. The Department of Anaesthesiology will not take
- Taking photographs is not allowed during class.
- Students cannot leave their teaching rooms or hospital ward without the teacher’s permission.
- Eating, drinking, smoking is forbidden during class.
- Students have to handle all teaching aids and equipment carefully and behave properly in front of patients and hospital staff.
- Students shall follow all the applicable health, safety and fire protection regulations, which will be communicated to them before the commencement of the course. Any incident that may occur at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy shall be reported to the course teacher immediately.
- Students are required to be present at all the practical meetings and lectures. All absences should be excused as soon as possible. If a student is absent for health reasons, they are required to provide a medical certificate; otherwise, a certificate issued by competent authorities will be needed.
- The Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy course is delivered through 10 lectures and 10 practical sessions. The detailed course schedule by group will be displayed on the notice board at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy two weeks before the first class.
- Credits will not be awarded to students with unexcused absences.
- In the event of prolonged inability to attend (at least 20% of the course duration) due to health reasons, the student will be entitled to complete the course at their convenience.
- A student who is absent at more than 20% of all the lectures without an excuse will not receive a credit.
- Students should be prepared in terms of theoretical background for every session, based on the required textbooks.
- Final credits are awarded on the last day of the course, on the basis of an exam consisting of 10 free-response questions, passed at 60%.
- The final exam is a MCQ test, consisting of 50 questions and obtaining more than 60% is mandatory for credit the whole course.
- Each student is entitled to review their test sheet within one week of publishing the results.
- Exam sheets are stored at the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy Archive for one year before shredding.
- Any final exam retake (in writing) shall be agreed with the Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Therapy.
- In case of retake exam failure, further procedure shall be as per the Terms & Conditions of Studies at the Medical University of Bialystok, available at the School’s website (http://www.umb.edu.pl/s,4080/Study_regulations).
- Students are not allowed to use any written resources or electronic devices during mid-term or final tests. Students are not allowed to communicate with anyone but the teacher during any test. Any violation of these rules will be regarded as cheating and will result in failing the test/exam.
- Copies of credit or exam sheets/papers will not be delivered to students.
- Any comments shall be presented to Sławomir Czaban, PhD, Head of the Department of Anaesthesiology, or to JuliuszKosel, Course Coordinator.
