The Vice- Rector for Teaching Hospitals and Postgraduate Education, Professor Janusz Dzięcioł, represented the Medical University of Bialystok at the 6th Congress on the Health of Polish People. The event was held on 25-27 November 2024 at the Institute of Physiology and Pathology of Hearing - World Hearing Centre in Kajetany . This year's edition was organised under the motto ‘Science for the health of society’, creating a platform for the exchange of knowledge and experience between medicine and other branches of science.

Under the motto ‘One Health’, the programmatic focus was on an integral approach to health, which takes into account the influence of the human environment on the overall health balance. Among other things, the Congress presented those achievements, implementations or scientific programmes that have a fundamental or significant impact on healthy living, social well-being, the development of prevention and diagnostics, as well as social security or family life.
Professor Janusz Dzięcioł participated as an expert in a debate entitled ‘The role of medical universities in the development of science and the health of Polish people’. He referred to the conditions for conducting medical experiments in an ethical context, and to the conduct of professional scientific research using the example of the ‘Białystok PLUS’ study modelled by the MUB. He also spoke about the functioning of the innovative MUB Biobank, which cooperates with many clinical centres in the country and Europe and plays a key role in the development of the medicine of the future.

Honorary patronage of the congress was assumed by the Speaker of the Senate of the Republic of Poland, the Minister of Science, the Minister of Sport and Tourism, the Ombudsman, the Patient Ombudsman, the Children's Ombudsman and the National Health Fund. The organisers are: General Council of Research Institutes, the First Health Foundation, the World Hearing Centre and the Sensory Organs Institute. The Social Insurance Institution was a partner of the Congress.

It is worth mentioning that MUB is part of the current trend of an integral approach to education and combining sustainable development with innovation - an excellent example of which is the MBA in health care run by the University. The study programme includes both managerial education and subjects related to the area of sustainable development. Recruitment for the next edition of the MBA in healthcare is currently underway.
