The ceremonial inauguration of the new academic year 2021/22 at the Medical University of Bialystok at the invitation of the Rector of MUB was honored by the world-famous surgeon and transplantologist, prof. Maria Siemionow from the University of Illinois in Chicago. The professor gave an inaugural lecture entitled: "New cell therapies in regenerative medicine". In her presentation, prof. M. Siemionow referred to the successful total face transplant surgery, which she performed as one of the first in the world with a team at the Cleveland Clinic.
In his speech, the Rector of MUB, prof. dr hab. Adam Krętowski thanked to all employees of the University Clinical Hospitals in Białystok.
The Rector encouraged employees and students of the University to vaccinate and informed that in 2020 scientists from MUB significantly increased the number and quality of publications placed in better and better journals registered in the Web of Science database.
Later in the inaugural ceremony, at the initiative of the University authorities, representatives of our Alma Mater involved in the fight against the pandemic, received high state decorations.
Then matriculation of students and doctoral students took place, followed by representatives of the Students' Parliament and Doctoral Students' Council as well as a representative of the English Division.
At the end of the speech, the Rector of MUB, prof. Adam Krętowski addressed the Academic Community with the words:
“In the New Academic Year, I wish you all health, perseverance in pursuing yout goals, tightening academic friendships and openness to other people. Let us be understanding, let us support each other, engage in new projects and make our dreams come true. Empathy, honesty, hard work, optimism and consistency are a simple recipe for their implementation! "
The ceremony of the inauguration of the new academic year at MUB was graced by a performance of MUB Choir under the direction of dr hab. Anna Moniuszko. Among the guests were: Minister Andrzej Dera from the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, and Deputy Minister of Health, MUB graduate, Waldemar Kraska.
Due to the pandemic, the inauguration took place with a limited number of participants in the building of the Podlasie Opera and Philharmonic.
