At our university, IFMSA-Poland Białystok Branch is very active, organizing numerous initiatives, including events promoting intercultural integration. One of the most recognizable ones is the National Food and Drink Party - a meeting organized on the occasion of the arrival of foreign students. In the academic year 2024/2025, two editions of this event have already been held - in January and February. During the meetings, both guests from other countries and Polish students prepare traditional dishes from their regions.

In January, we had the pleasure of hosting students from Indonesia, Brazil, Mexico and South Korea, which allowed participants to get to know unique flavors from different corners of the world. Among the dishes served were, among others, Polish dumplings and croquettes, Indonesian mie goreng and Korean kimchi.

In the February edition of the event, as many as seven different cultures cooperated, whose representatives prepared stands with dishes characteristic of their regions. The meeting took place in the CoNieCo student club, and students from Brazil, Ghana, Egypt, Thailand, Korea, Chile and Poland took part in the culinary journey. The Polish team was present at the stand with such classics as pierogi, croquettes and pickled cucumbers.

The National Food and Drink Party is not only an opportunity to try dishes from different parts of the world, but also an excellent example of the fact that despite cultural and culinary differences, we can build an open, close-knit community, share traditions and spend time together. The entire event was organized by the Exchanges team from IFMSA-Poland Białystok Branch, consisting of: Mateusz Szapiel – Local Coordinator for Clinical Practices, Małgorzata Szeląg – Local Coordinator for Scientific Exchange and Katarzyna Pogorzelska – Assistant to the Local Coordinator for Scientific Exchange.

The International Medical Students' Association IFMSA-Poland is an organization that brings together medical students from all over Poland. It gives them the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience, participate in foreign internships and scientific exchanges, and develop cooperation skills in an international environment.

If you want to take part in an international event, there will be another opportunity on April 26 - the International Cooperation Department invites you to the 3rd International Sport Day. Registration starts soon!
