You can apply for the scholarships in the beginning of an academic year. Scholarships are paid monthly. The first scholarship for the given academic year is paid in November, with compensation for October.
Doctoral scholarship
The scholarship is awarded for 12 months from 1.10 to 30.09.
This year (2019/2020) the lowest scholarship is PLN 1470 (there are 3 kinds of doctoral scholarship, depending on involvement in research projects funded from external sources and PhD thesis in progress).
In the first year of the PhD studies it is awarded for very good results in the recruitment procedure.
In the second and consecutive years of the doctoral studies the doctoral scholarship may be granted to a PhD student who follows the doctoral study programme on a timely basis and shows commitment in:
– teaching classes as a part of his/her professional training or
– pursuing research conducted by the organizational unit of the University and demonstrating progress in the research work and in preparation of the doctoral dissertation in the academic year preceding the year of applying for the scholarship.
The scholarship is paid by bank transfer at the beginning of each month. However, the October scholarship is paid at the beginning of November with the November scholarship.
The scholarship is paid also during justified absence of the PhD student, but for no longer than the period for which the scholarship was granted.
If the PhD student is assigned to complete over 6-months training abroad, due to his/her individual study programme, the Rector decides whether the scholarship will be paid or not.
The PhD student loses his/her right to receive the PhD scholarship in case of graduating or being removed from the PhD students’ list.
If the PhD student is removed from the PhD students’ list, the payment of the doctoral scholarship shall be discontinued on the first day of the month following the month in which the decision on the removal has become final.
In accordance with the Polish law, this scholarship may be granted only to the nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the EFTA and non-nationals who have been granted a residence permit (in order to work in a profession requiring high qualifications) or temporary protection in the territory of Poland or a European Community long-term residence permit or a fixed-term residence permit or a subsidiary protection in the territory of Poland, non-nationals holding refugee status as granted by the Republic of Poland and migrant workers.
Doctoral scholarship regulations
"Pro-quality scholarship"
Scholarship granting an increase in the doctoral scholarship from the subsidy for co-financing of pro-quality tasks, for the outstanding research achievements.
The scholarship is awarded for 12 months from 1/10 to 30/09.
The amount is minimum PLN 800 monthly.
It is dedicated to 30% of the best doctoral students.
In the first year of the PhD studies it is awarded for very good results in the recruitment procedure, in the following years for distinguished achievements in research and teaching.
The increase in the doctoral scholarship from the entity subsidy for quality-oriented tasks shall be paid also during the PhD student’s justified absence, but no longer than for the time for which the scholarship was granted.
If the PhD student is assigned to complete over 6-months training abroad, due to his/her individual study programme, the Rector decides whether the scholarship will be paid or not.
In accordance with the Polish law, a scholarship may be granted to nationals of the Member States of the European Union, of the Swiss Confederation, or the member states of the EFTA and non-nationals as above.
